How UPrep looks after your information

A short version for the children and young people we teach.

Hi! This is about the information UPrep keeps about you, and what we do with it.

What we know about you

  • Your first name, your year group, and the subjects you learn with us.
  • Your work: homework, marks, practice tests, and notes about how you're getting on.
  • Maybe a short note about how you learn best, like "likes short tasks" or "needs bigger writing". We only keep one if you or your parent agreed first, and you can ask us to delete it whenever you like.

We don't have your phone number, email or social media. Outside lessons, we talk to your parent or carer, not to you. In lessons, you and your tutor talk, of course. We don't take photos or videos of your lessons.

Why we have it

So your tutor can plan lessons that help you, and tell your parent or carer how you're doing.

Who can see it

  • At UPrep: only your tutor and Abdulrehman, who runs UPrep.
  • Your parent or carer can see how your lessons are going.
  • Some companies help us. One runs our website and keeps things there only in the way we ask. Others run the email and WhatsApp we use, and they follow their own rules for their services.

We never sell it, and we never use it to advertise things to you.

If you're worried or unsafe

If you tell your tutor something that makes them worried about your safety, they can't promise to keep it a secret. They have to tell someone whose job is to help keep you safe, and they'll tell you what happens next.

Sometimes that means telling people outside UPrep who help keep children safe, like social workers or the police. And sometimes we won't tell everyone, not even your parent or carer, if telling them could put you or someone else in danger. Keeping you safe matters more than anything else.

Your information is yours

You can ask what we know about you. You can ask us to fix something that's wrong. You can tell us if you're unhappy with how we use it.

Who to talk to: your parent or carer, your tutor, or Abdulrehman (uprep.tutors@gmail.com · 07305 601684). If you're still unhappy, a grown-up can help you contact the ICO, which makes sure organisations look after information properly: ico.org.uk · 0303 123 1113.

How long we keep it

We keep your work while you have lessons with us. After you stop, we only keep what we still need, then we delete it. A note about how you learn best is deleted soon after your lessons end.
